POWER BALLAD (in theatres)

In absolute truthfulness the Jonas Brothers did not rent any real estate in my musical realm until Nick married Bollywood icon Priyanka Chopra; a woman of significant beauty, fantastical talents and lauded throughout India. He had to be a man of substance to be her choice.

“Power Ballad” featuring Paul Rudd, “Rick Power” a middle-aged wedding band singer in Ireland with wife “Rachel” (Marcella Plunkett) and daughter “Asia” (Beth Fallon) and Nick Jonas a fading pop star “Danny Wilson”; directed by John Carney (“Once” and “Sing Street”). The remarkability of the film lies in the chemistry and dynamism between the two actors. Their scenes together stun with ingenious creativity, compatibility and overwhelming respect (“this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”). The sharing of Rick’s song, “How to Write a Song Without You” is the crux of debate throughout the film.

A power ballad reverberates with intense emotion, played typically by a rock or heavy metal band; Celine Dion heralded as Queen of the power ballads. The redundancy of this song guarantees its perpetual occupancy in one’s musical memory.

The “Power Ballad” overloaded with heart but lacking in substantial soul.
