Director Amit Sharma’s “Tevar”, loosely translated “attitude/anger” is monotonous, predictable, cacophonous, intolerably boring; a major conundrum is why this formula is perpetually pervasive in the Bollywood genre; hundreds of films, sundry actors, ubiquitous scenario.
Arjun Kapoor a porky, athletic, rebel -rouser, “Pintu”, comes to the aid of a “damsel in distress’ (myriads of them pulsate on the India screen, waiting to be rescued by “a suitable boy” ) “Radhika” (bland, gooey, placid role defined by Sonakshi Sinha); she has been chosen by mendicant “Gajinder” to be his bride; his obsession is the crux of the film and the only reason for extending the agony; Manoj Bajpayee is sleazily sensational as the villain; kills without a conscience, loves without a filter; his obsequious wooing is hilarious; blinded by Radihika’s beauty and dancing prowess, he finds it unimaginable that his suit would not be requited. Hence Pintu’s mission, to save, salvage the maiden; slaying legions in the process, strenuously felling one lethal hurdle after another; the sound track cracked the barrier; earplugs did not save one from audio assassination.
It was a “hard day’s night, working like a dog” leaving enervated “Tevar” guarantees “sleeping like a log”.
