Two engaging films, likely destined for major streaming platforms, are especially rewarding when seen in a traditional movie theater. In director Paul Greengrass’s dramatization of England’s 1381 Peasants’ Revolt, Andrew Garfield shifts from a superhero role into the vivid character of a peasant “Ploughman.” The Black Plague (1346–1353) had killed an estimated 25 to 50 million people across Europe and Asia, including the Ploughman’s family. Faced with the king’s harsh taxation, rebellion becomes the only option. The film also draws interest from the relationship between 14-year-old King Richard II (Woody Norman) and his mother Joan of Kent (Katherine Waterson) (1328–1385); his immaturity, imbued with nightmares is disastrously unprepared for leadership.
Exceptionally gritty cinematography, and sublime acting lends positive credibility to a worthy historical scenario.

“THE FIX”
Actor Liam Nesson is the reason to visit director Guy Mose’s “The Fix”; or maybe just part of the plan to lure viewers into this convoluted, disjointed but somewhat entertaining mission by disillusioned ex-CIA agents? The legitimate reason to venture into this mishmash of a plot is actor Zachary Levi; his presence commands, conquers, vanquishes any reasonable doubts in the heist and rescue assignment in Iran; Levi, as leader, “Tucker” is stratospheric in the role. Moshe perpetually gifts surprises throughout the 2 hours and 21 minutes of a movie deserving of your “couch”.
