Periodically you meet a film that from its onset is perfectly proportioned, a flawless scenario intelligently scripted and sublimely performed, pushing all the right buttons, earning magnificent respect and awesome admiration from the viewer.
“The Teachers Lounge” co-written and directed by IIker Catak garnishes the deserved medal for excellence. “Carla” (exceptional Leonie Benesch) an idealistic middle school teacher, has an aptitude for the learning process, recognizes the obstacles affecting twelve-year-old students. She is remarkable because her resolve, perpetually tested, never crumbles, no matter the magnitude of the vicissitudes, she floats above the fray.
Thieving is at the core of the film, whether a student, or an adult, Carla instinctively keeps an open mind and scripts her own course of action which leads to violations, accusations and eventual retribution.
Deliciously, enticingly, compellingly executed, Carla and her intransigent, traumatized student “Oscar” (Leo Stettnisch) both champions of the Rubik’s Cube, reign superbly in alternate realms gifting satiated satisfaction.
