BOLLYWOOD BOMB: FORCE 2 (HINDI: ENGLISH SUBTITLES) NETFLIX. BOSCH BONANZA (AMAZON PRIME, NETFLIX)

“FORCE 2” is a limpid, crystalline, imitation of potent “Force One”; a second chance for hunky, handsome John Abraham to recreate his role of outlier, law enforcement officer, “Yash”, teamed with Captain KK (Sonakshi Sinha) to excavate a mole in India’s Budapest Embassy. Glorious glitz saves director Abhinay Deo’s film from placid anonymity; the action scenes fall into the “Kill Bill” arena, and Abraham with Atlas abs, scores big, but lacks any dimensionality in the characterization of a hero with a heart; his life is never in doubt, hard to be invested in the occasional, superficial wound; Sinha was an unneeded appendage, lending zilch to the feminine franchise. The sole “person of interest” is malcontent “Shiv” (scintillating, Tahir Raj Bhasin) a master of trickery whose chicanery nails viewers attention.

TWO & ½ STARS

If Bollywood is your flavor of the day, Netflix has a potpourri:

“BAAGHI” 1, 2, 3.  Tiger Shroff is worth the watch! THREE STARS!!!

“PK”, Aamir Khan stuns. FOUR STARS!!!!

“RAAZI”, Alia Bhatt won a Film Fare Award for playing a Kashmiri spy. FOUR & ½ Stars!!!!

“BOSCH”  (AMAZON PRIME, NETFLIX)

Profess delinquency in my tardiness to watch one of the more intelligent, crime solving series (based on  novels by Michael Connelly) on television, commencing in 2014 until the present. Superb casting, especially Titus Welliver, as Detective “Hieronymus Bosch”, named after the eponymous Dutch painter (1450-1516), whose triptych “The Garden of Earthly Delights” (Prado Museum. Madrid, Spain) scorches with carnality, crime, unethical behavior leading to a justifiable hell; Harry, his partner “Jerry Edgar” (Jamie Hector), “Lt. Grace Billets” (Amy Aquino), and “Chief Irvin Irving” (Lance Reddick) deal with the sins, not only the underbelly of LA.,  but its polluted police corps, entitled, egregious elite, avaricious, amoral politicians; no one group is spared Harry’s division’s acute, nonpartisan scrutiny.  “Bosch” is a powerful attestation, thought-provoking analysis of real, unabashed criminals and the defective, but genuine, principled men and women fighting to squelch their injustices, attaining closure for the hapless survivors.

FIVE STARS!!!!!
