THE ORDER (in theatres)

Director Justin Kurzel could not have selected a timelier era to debut this true travail which occurred in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1980’s; a white, antisemitic cabal led by charismatic Robert Mathews (a superb Nicholas Hoult), messianic leader of The Order and believer in the annihilation and recreation of the American government; funded by organized bank robberies. Enter FBI agent Terry Husk (stoically astounding Jude Law, also a Producer) whose career centers around the devious, untoward and spineless poltroons.

Alan Berg (appropriately cast Marc Marcon) a radio talk show host, a metaphor for the reasonable, is chastised, maligned because of his Jewishness; his voice proclaims truths that the ignorant legitimize as falsehoods.

The Order is grounded in the precepts of “The Turner Diaries” authored by William Luther Price (1933-2002), a neo-Nazi, white suprematist, physicist, inspiring a myriad of hate bombings, including the Oklahoma City bombing; this ugly fictional prose hovers on the same level as “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” (authorless) purporting a Jewish plot for global sovereignty.

“The Order” resonates with the cancerous toxicity, percolating on campuses of higher education today and a society of warped ideologies, prejudices, dormant temporarily, but full-fledged, roaring from the tongues of the horribly misguided.
