PENEFLIX BEST AND NEAR BEST FILMS OF 2017

As I peruse other critics best and worst films I feel fortunate that, because of my pay grade, have rarely seen many of the “worst”; no matter the product, each year there are enough quality films, that in retrospect my passion  is satiated. Granted I have not seen, “The Post”, “Phantom Thread” “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool”.  So here are my choices in varying categories:

GRANDEST:

“CALL ME BY YOUR NAME”

“LOVING VINCENT”

“DUNKIRK”

“WIND RIVER”

“I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO”

“DARKEST HOUR”

“LAST FLAG FLYING”

“THE SQUARE”

“COCO”

“THE SHAPE OF WATER”

GRANDER:

“GET OUT”

“LADY BIRD”

“THEIR FINEST”

“NORMAN:THE MODERATE RISE AND TRAGIC FALL OF A NEW YORK FIXER”

“LOST CITY OF Z”

“FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER”

“MUDBOUND”

“WORMWOOD”

“WONDERSTRUCK”

“WONDER”

“THE DISASTER ARTIST”

“THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI”

“BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”

“MAUDIE”

“MOLLY’S GAME”

NOT AS GRAND BUT WORTHY:

“MARSHALL”

“PARIS CAN WAIT”

“BLACK BUTTERFLY”

“THE EXCEPTION”

“GIFTED”

“THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE”

“A UNITED KINGDOM”

“THE BIG SICK”

“THE INVISIBLE GUEST”

“THE WEDDING PLAN”

For over eleven years your Subscribership has kept Peneflix, thriving and striving to, without “spoilers”, keep you in its filmic loop.

Accept my bountiful gratitude and wishes for a movie-infused 2018!
