BOB TRAVINO LIKES IT (in theatres)

Periodically you visit a film that strikes the perfect cord, totally in sync, aligned with the human condition. “Bob Travino Likes It” is such a film, unique in its universality, appealing to anyone whose life has been informed by parental love or denied it; “Lily Travino” (Barbie Ferreira’s, stratospherically gifted performance stuns with its remarkability) quivers with the total absence of her father’s love; he is a man of warped sensibilities, narcissist, megalomaniac, repulsive to see, hear or watch “Robert” (French Stewart, disparaging ugly, foppish, sensationally brilliant in the role); she is his foil to banish at whim; Lily, more than a doormat, yearns for his approval and accepts her expulsion. Searching online, Lily unearths another “Bob Travino” (John Leguizamo is legendary in a once in a lifetime character scrutiny); he is comfortably married, in a demeaning work environment and befriends this desperately, emotionally deprived young woman; their relationship in gratitude to the skill of perceptive director Tracie Laymon, exponentially develops with a naturalism rarely exhibited; humor, joviality, and wonder of the celestial pepper their jaunts together; divergent generations melding in momentous harmony. This is a treasure, emanating a warmth sorely missing in the contemporary milieu. Redolent reality lends overwhelming profundity, joy, heartbreaking poignancy, to “Bob Travino Likes It”.  Naturally, I love it.
