Unlike the first two seasons, this third scenario is relentless in its pulsating, pulverizing intensity; each breathless episode, taut with friction, bludgeons viewers with harrowing action, massive slayings, kidnappings; friendly fire, wreaking havoc on the “unit”; regulars: Doron, Nurit, Gabi, Steve, Avichay, Eli in grubby, heightened form, intrepidly infiltrate Gaza, to retrieve two Israeli hikers, kidnapped by escapees father/son “Jihad (Khalifa Natour) and “Bashar”, (Ala Dakka) Hamdan, “Fauda’s” newest antagonists.
Directors Rotem Shamir and Assaf Bernstein have stretched sensibilities too far, compromised Doron’s integrity, demanding too much license from the characters and viewers; success lies in the disintegration of a naïve, moral man, shedding his benign chrysalis and emerging a merciless madman.
In conclusion, it is immaculately filmed and acted; but unwarranted, inordinate, injustice leaves a hollow-hearted, unfulfilled, unsatisfied viewer, lusting for a fourth season!
